Hi all, The UKU Board elections are coming up, for details please see the member update: http://www.ukultimate.com/newsletter/uku_member_update_nov_2008
2008 has been another eventful year for our organisation and for Ultimate in the UK generally: - We have seen significant growth, esp with the numbers of schools and younger players - The UKU coaching and Leadership program goes from strength to strength - Our GB teams performed well in Vancouver and qualified (for the first time) for World Games in 2009 - Our sport was formal recognised as such by the UK sporting bodies And that is just a small sample of all the less obvious activity that is happening; it is incredibly exciting time to be playing Ultimate in the UK. Of course, this means that we need an organisation that can handle all this and still represent us as players in the way we want, and so the UKU always needs new volunteers! If you are interested in becoming involved please: 1. Take a quick look at the "How the UKU works" area on the website: http://www.ukultimate.com/about 2. In particular see: http://www.ukultimate.com/about_uk_ultimate/how_uku_works/board_of_directors 3. Send an email/manifesto to admin[at]ukultimate[dot]com by 7th Dec 2008. This needs only to be a short, half page, outlining why you are standing and including a sentence or two on your background. Positions on the Board do take some time commitment, but this is not too onerous. At the minimum you will need to be able to take part in email discussions and votes, attend a conference call approx every two months and one in person meeting per year. If you have experience of helping out with or running your Ultimate club, any other club or group that helps - but is not a requirement! **** We really need female representation on the Board! **** If you would like to find out more then please don't hesitate to contact any of the current Board or the administrator. Of course, the Board is not the only way to get involved, see the website for the various committees and positions that focus on specific areas too! Thanks, Barry PS: Please feel free to pass this on to any players or ex-players who may be interested. __________________________________________________ BritDisc mailing list [email protected] http://www.fysh.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/britdisc Staying informed - http://www.ukultimate.com/staying-informed
