Clubs with youth players,

For some LEA's (Local Education Authorties) the deadline for the Youth
Opportunity Funds are fast approaching. If you have junior players
this could be a great chance to empower them to get Ultimate Frisbee
funded for your club to give them and others like them a chance to
play Ultimate.

Those who have never encountered YOF before, it is a scheme that was
set up by the government as one of the European Government Floor
Targets, giving young people opportunities to do what THEY want and to
do and to empower them on that journey.

Youth players must be the ones who fill out the form and submit it.
(However, nothing says you can’t help with every aspect)

To find out more about how YOF works visit:

The forms can seem complicated and I am here to help those who need my
advice (by email or phone call) but I can assure you they are fairly
straight forward. You just need to let the grant panel (who will be
young people themselves) know what it is your doing and how it will
help young people, through opportunity. (Ideally linking in with the
ECM targets)

Ultimate holds so many ideals that the governments Every Child Matters
initiatives preach and is a sure fire way to get funding, for young
players.

If you don't try you can guarantee failure. So give it a try.

(It’s important to mention that all bids must be supported by adults
in a supporting organization. On the Wirral, Catch Those created their
own supporting organization “Wirral Ultimate Club” with policies,
procedures, committees, accounts and the works. The task is very
achievable and to think they won their first bid as young adults all
under the age of 19 most under the age of 17, with little to no help
from anyone but each other)
Three years and five bids later, Catch Those are again waiting to see
if there total can reach £12,000......
