Hello,
Sometime ago, over a few drinks, a few of us decided that London needed a Christmas Hat tournament. As we discussed it further, grand ideas like lined pitches, tournament t shirts and some sort of Christmas party entered the fray. Fuelled by strong Belgian beer and a belief that anything was possible, we retired to the night, filled with confidence that it would happen. And so as December 16th hits me in the face like a wayward disc, I realise, sadly, that good intentions count for nothing. Nothing has been organised, no star studded party bash has been booked in. Failure looms yet again. But fear not, because Christmas is the time of miracles. I have cones, some cider and the top floor of Firefly booked out. (When I say booked out, what I really mean is the management said we could sit there and drink until 7pm, when their proper party booking turns up). Added on top of this, is the fact that Firefly are showing the clash of the titans, game of the century, veritable star fest of Nottingham Forest v Preston. Who needs a proper party? So if you fancy having a game or two and drinking some festive cheer afterwards, then please be at Eagle Pond by Clapham South for midday this Saturday (19th December). We'll draw teams out of a hat, make it up as we go along and generally show no sign of any organisational forethought whatsoever. I've had a couple of people contact me saying they have never played before and might come down, so if you know anyone brave/dumb enough who fancies giving the sport a go, then get them along. Bring one, bring all. If you could drop me an e mail to say you are coming then that would be great, so I can keep an eye on numbers. Nice one. Maybe see you there. If not have a good festive break.
