With the new U23 Worlds being confirmed our current coaching team for the GB Junior open squad have decided they would like to put their energies into trying out for the new team. We'd like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the Dale, Penny and Josh for all their hard work and efforts with the Junior open squad in the last few years.
We are now - rather urgently - looking for one or more people to step into the breach and coach the team for the World Junior Ultimate Championships in Heilbronn, Germany in August 2010. Dale has kindly agreed to continue to support the planned training sessions during Jan and Feb, but we'd like to have someone in place to join the session in Feb. It may be worth commenting that this role has much more of an "ultimate-coaching" feel to it than used to be the case following a great deal of work by Gemma Taylor, Nick (Stato) Sampson and Kev Lowe in the last couple of years. Many of the organisational, administrative and safeguarding (child protection) issues are shared with this group, and particular the junior open team manager Nick. Coaches are NOT expected to meet all of their costs personally. As indicated by the emails sent on Friday, we are also attempting to accelerate our plans to provide more training and resources to GB coaches.
