Hello,

Before we launch into anything else and lose anyone's interest, we would like
to draw everyone's attention to a number of resources aimed to help teams with
rules knowledge and spirit guidelines which can be found here

www.wfdf.org
http://www.wfdf.org/index.php?page=rules/spirit.htm
http://www.wfdf.org/index.php?page=rules/index.htm

We will aim to circulate any new resources that come to our attention that we
think could help with this matter.

So, without further ado, we would like to announce the creation of a committee
aimed at supporting protection and promotion of spirit of the game in Ultimate
in the UK.

We have identified a number of issues which we believe need some attention, but
would also like to ask for your feedback on any issues or suggestions you might
have on this subject. If you have do have any points you wish to raise then
please follow this link and fill in the form
http://www.ukultimate.com/spirit_game_general_comments .

While we discuss these points with a view to passing our recommendations on to
the UKU, it is important to understand that all clubs, teams and individuals
are responsible for their own levels of spirit. Please make every effort to
fill in spirit scores accurately at tournaments. These scores are being
collected by the UKU and this information will help us to come to less
subjective conclusions and therefore provide better recommendations to the UKU.

To start off a bit of thought, some of the issues we're hoping to cover are
educating players, especially new players, about spirit and supporting players
and teams to address low spirit scores. This includes consistency, both in the
giving out of spirit scores and the display of spirit itself across the UK and
divisions, and also dangerous play, how it can be interpreted and the impact it
has on players and the game.

We would also like to note at this point that we are not forming as a sanctions
committee to punish teams or players who are 'badly spirited'.

Many thanks

The SOTG Committee
