Bad news about the Derby venue.

Tour 2 Women and C-Tour will NOT take place in Derby, but will instead
happen at Shobnall in Burton-on-Trent (a venue used for a mixed tour event
in 2008).

I am very sorry for the switch, and I hope very much that the fact we
advertised the Derby venue as provisional means that people have waited for
confirmation one way or the other before booking travel and hotels.

The background is that for various reasons (e.g. some issues we had last
year, the fact this was a new venue, etc) I decided to check it personally.
So when I had the chance to be going past Derby a little while back, I left
early and stopped off to have a look. I also met the person responsible for
the fields. I came away concerned that although the fields themselves were
probably ok, there were issues with the non-playing facilities (changing
rooms) and especially security - certainly to players' kit and their cars.

The event is being organised by UltiEvents (SET Tours) and so we discussed
these issues, and they looked into solutions. In the end we came to the
conclusion that the best thing to do was move it to another venue that was
relatively close by. The new venue is less than 15 miles / 30 mins drive
from the original advertised venue. More details will be available about
plans at Shobnall soon - they will be posted on the website:

Again - apologies for the switch. Its obviously disappointing that this has
occurred. But, by way of highlighting the positive aspects.
In previous years it is likely that nobody else would have inspected the
fields, and provided a second opinion - we would have gone ahead and used
the venue - and I suspect spent some significant amount of BD time
afterwards dissecting how on earth it was allowed to happen. So this time:
its not been allowed to happen, and we've fallen back to a venue that has
been used relatively successfully before.

I'd like to thank the team at SET Tours for their help resolving all this.
I'm sure the event will work out well now.

Si
