Catapulted from obscurity, The Galway Open returns to Ireland this Autumn. The
Galway Open 2011 promises to be the Rootin'est, Tootin'est, Boot-Scootin'est
Ultimate Frisbee Tournament this side o' Tallahassee!

The Tournament will be taking place at the NUI Galway sports grounds in Dangan,
Galway city on the 1st and 2nd of October 2011. The venue offers prestine
pitches and top class changing facilities, with under floor heating to keep
your toes warm!

Each Team will have no less than seven 60 minute games to 15 points (TBC).
There will be no player fee for the tournament but instead a team fee for each
team that enters.

This year we will also see the Galway Open recieve the GAIA Spirit Award
Sponsorship - in co-operation with JUMP+REACH / GAIA Europe.

The team that wins SOTG will receive 1 very special GAIA Spirit Disc (black
discs with gold and silver print) as a team trophy during the prize ceremony.
In addition, every player who played in the team while winning SOTG will receive
a white GAIA Spirit Disc (of course with the same logo as the trophy disc). The
white discs will be sent from GAIA to the team directly after the tournament.
Trinity won this prestigious award last year, So make sure you enter your team
so you have a chance to win this epic prize.

Tournament fee:

150 euro for 1st team

120 euro for 2nd team

120 euro for teams coming from outside of Ireland.

We have a reduced fee for teams travelling internationally to add an incentive
to travel and to negate excess costs. We also have a reduced fee for clubs
bringing a second team! We plan to run a two tiered tournament with a 2nd
division for developing teams. So why not bring your beginners along and let
them experience great Ultimate in the party capital of Ireland, Galway city!

What you will get at this tournament:

Each team will recieve a basic Breakfast and Lunch at the pitches each day and
clean drinking water is provided. The Winning Team of the Tournament will
recieve a bitchin' Trophy along with medals. Each team will vote for an MVP who
will recieve a limited edition Galway Open MVP T-shirt. At the Friday night
party, at the College bar, all players will recieve 1 free beer and some free
pizza! Ya thats right, free beer and pizza. If you don't believe us ask someone
who went last year! On the Saturday night, there will be a Black & Gold themed
party in Monroes. There will be finger food, cheap drinks and a live band
rocking it out. You are probably wondering how do we afford all this for such a
low price... Magic! Its like Hogwarts over here in Galway.

In regards Accommodation, team members hope to accommodate as many players as
we can with couches, floor space, etc... We will endeavour to host as many
people as we can but priority will be given to teams travelling the furthest
and to teams who have hosted the Galway team in the past. A list of great value
hostels will also be published. More details will also be in the captains pack.

If your team is interested in attending, or you would like to play for the pick
up team. Please e-mail the tournament director: Liam Grant at
