We've had pretty decent bids for CMIN and O&W Nats but are still very short on
bids for Open Qualifiers (to date just Wolverhampton, Plymouth and possibly
Portsmouth).

The deadline set for bids was this coming Monday 15th August. These events
will be allocated then, unless I have an influx of bids over the weekend.

Clearly we would still welcome Open qualifier events in London/North/Scotland
so the deadline may have to be extended for this. Please let me know if you
are looking into hosting something and ask questions if you think I can help.

Cheers
Si

Subject: Call for indoor bids (and a few notes to TDs)

Apologies that I have not got round to this before now. As people are
sending bids in anyway, I must put out an 'official' call for bids to host the
following tournaments:

UKU Club Open Indoor Qualifiers - 19/20 November 2011
  UKU Club Open & Women's Indoor Nationals - 28/29 January 2012
UKU Club Mixed Indoor Nationals - 18/19 February 2012

As usual we look for a good spread of locations for qualifiers (preferably
along the lines of the UKU outdoor regions). I appreciate that not all indoor
teams have a fixed location however, and so there is no move to fix teams to a
region at this point.

Due to the lateness in making this request (my fault) I need to put a pretty
tight deadline for the submission of bids, especially where people already have
venues on hold waiting for me to get back to them.

I have received a very good bid for CMIN so if you wish to put in a competing
bid, please let me know by the end of this week (Sunday 7th August). We have
also received bids from Portsmouth and Wolverhampton for Open Qualifiers. If
you intend to submit a competing bid in these regions, please also get in touch
ASAP.

The deadline for all other bids is Monday 15th August.

You can find the indoors bid form at
http://www.ukultimate.com/about_the_ukua/tournament_standards_and_guidelines.
There have been a couple of changes, but the new form doesn't appear to be
online yet. The changes are thus:

  - pitch size MUST be provided in metres (we will not accept "4 badminton
courts" for example)
  - the ideal pitch size has been reduced to 28-32m x 15-16m (from the previous
40m x 20m)
  - perimeter space will be a key determinate for a successful bid; 1m is an
absolute minimum but player safety has to be of paramount importance
  - with regards to viewing, there is a reminder that ONLY substitutes of
competing teams should be on the sideline
  - providing the entry fee for the tournament is no longer optional

If you would prefer for me to send you the new document, please get in touch
and I will email it through.

If you have any questions, please get in touch ASAP.

  Regards
  Si
