Hello All, Sport England have accepted UK Ultimate on to a pilot scheme to help build community Ultimate clubs for juniors in specific areas as part of the on-going Matalan Sporting Promise.
That is just a brief overview of the project. Keep watching the UK Ultimate website for a more in-depth story about the scheme! Three of the target areas are situated around three schools in the areas of Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford upon Trent. We recognise that we currently don't have any well established clubs central to those areas - but that is sort of the point really. I would love anyone who lives in those areas, or a sensibly commutable distance from those areas, who might be interested in this project. We need to find willing players, or former players, to join our team to help make this project happen. This can be anything from coaching, promotion, support all the way to club management! The project also funds club & coach development - which we hope will be a reward and/or incentive for people to volunteer their time. UK Ultimate will be directly involved with the running of the clubs - we are not asking for any one person to take solo responsibility for a club. The time scale for this project is to start in late January 2013. Success in this project means a great deal to UK Ultimate. We very much see the fact UKU has been accepted on to this scheme as a real positive step forwards in the growth of our sport.
