Hi Britdisc,

Soar here again.

So yesterday we introduced ourselves and gave you a little insight into why we exist. Thanks to all those people who have already contacted us looking to get involved. We’ll be replying to you all individually once we have finished announcing wonderful stuff.

Now it’s time to tell you all about the two events we have planned for this year (so far).

--

The first is something of a brigadoon event. You might have heard about it before as ‘Project 3’, but we’re now proud to announce a new indoor ultimate experience…

PICK UP IN A BREWERY!

This is an indoor hat tournament which has roamed around the country and calendar. It was last sighted in Oakham, Leicestershire this April. However there wasn’t quite enough interest so it waxed back into the ether.

Rather than building it and then demanding you all come along, we’re testing a new ‘crowd-sourcing’ approach to running this kind of community hat event.

Put simply, if you’re the kind of person who loves meeting new people, playing great indoor ultimate, and having a bit of a boogie, then we’d suggest you sign up here (if you signed up for Project 3, you're ahead of the game):

We’ll then continue to work with players around the country to scout potential venues for these events. Whenever we find one which meets the criteria (decent pitches, local accommodation, solid party credentials) you’ll get an email and a countdown to sign up.

Whenever we get enough interest, we’ll lock down the venue and run the tournament.

We think this kind of local event is a great way to build links between clubs in a region, as well as being a useful way to fill those pesky ultimate-free weekends.

So rather than being something like the tour which you build your diary around, these events will be a fun way to spend a free weekend.

A cheap and cheerful ultimate experience, with an emphasis on cheerful.

Now for the one you have all (well, some of you anyway) been waiting for:

BRITISH THUMBER TIME 2013: ANARCHY IN THE UK

That’s right. After two years of fervent gentlemanly patriotism, we’re pushing back on all this lardi-dar chappishness and getting our punk on. Britain is not just about waxed moustaches and bowler hats, it’s about the freedom to pierce any part of your body and the right to pogo until your ankles break.

However I’m afraid I have to share some bad news. We fought the law, and the law won. Because of the density of the UK summer calendar, combined with a poor show from the government in not giving us any bonus bank holidays this year, we can’t have a three day event without you all having to take time off.

So until you all tell us you're happy to take a Monday off work in the name of port, BTT’13 will be a two day event and you’ll only have two nights to Rock the Casbah.

The Anarchy in the UK edition will be running on the 31st Aug – 1st Sept 2013 at Stoneygate Rugby club in Leicester, and will feature everything you have come to expect from BTT:

-Plenty of great outdoor games (in glorious summer weather)
-Two MASSIVE parties complete with live music, beer pong, port, dancing, fancy dress, more port, yards of ale/fail, sleeplessness, floodlit naughtiness, more dancing, and the beer race.
-Camping on site
-Breakfast both days and a hot and tasty dinner on Saturday night
-Tournament shirts for every player on your team

As usual we have space for plenty of teams, but as we’re stuck with only two days of games we’ll be sticking to 24 this year. Team bids open today, so register your gang here (In the spirit of anarchy, bids will be drawn at random from a doc martin boot.):

Oh, and to get you in the mood there’s a Spotify playlist here: http://bit.ly/RockMyCasbah

So that’s a little on our events. There’ll certainly be more appearing as the year progresses, but in the meantime that's plenty to be going on with.

See you tomorrow.

Thanks,

Jaff
