I use a patched version of the debian packaging script and have noticed the following messages after a successful package build for 7.22.0:
dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libsysv.so.20 could be avoided if "debian/brlcad/usr/brlcad/rel-7.22.0/bin/nmg-bot debian/brlcad/usr/brlcad/rel-7.22.0/bin/brep_simple ... debian/brlcad/usr/brlcad/rel-7.22.0/lib/libwdb.so.20.0.1" were not uselessly linked against it (they use none of its symbols). Other similar messages are reported for: dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libfreetype.so.6 could be dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libICE.so.6 could be avoided if dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libGLU.so.1 could be avoided if dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libbsd.so.0 could be avoided if dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libnsl.so.1 could be avoided if dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libpc.so.20 could be avoided if dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libpoints.so could be avoided dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libSM.so.6 could be avoided if Question: Has anyone noticed the apparently wasted links? I will be happy to tackle trying to eliminate the "problem" if it seems to be a real problem (i.e., if there's not something else happening that I don't understand).
