Yes it is. As I can see at http://nodeframework.com/index.html, there
are many such full stack frameworks and I think we can use any of
them. All of them would have almost same features, little more or
less. Just need to checkout help/support/documentation is available.
So hopefully, we would not have any problem with Derby. It would be
great if you could tell us why you choose Derby?

It means separating the functionality part from designing (user interface).

Collaboration between front-end and back-end developer is always
necessary. IMO, designers should be incorporated into discussion /
planing right from the beginning. Working in isolation make them to
miss opportunities. But both of them would have certain
responsibilities that each must need to realize.

But it all depends upon if we get a designer's interest for this
project. But if we succeed to work this way, IMO we would experience a
great real world collaboration and would end up with something
awesome.

Different people may have different views.
