You can do whatever you like.  How it affects selections is another matter...  
You should consult the GSoC timeline, but know that we are in the process of 
making our final choices.

If there wasn't a problem with it, then it would have likely been quickly 
integrated.  The rules for completing that particular GCI task had little to do 
with producing a correct solution and more with producing a plausible solution. 
 I do not believe the volume of a right hyperbolic cylinder is that equation.
