Release 7.10.4 was the last x86 binary release [1].  Also, I believe  
the TclReFree error is fixed in the latest source release [2].  If  
you download the 7.14.0 source release (you'd used 7.12.6), the build  
should (hopefully) go more smoothly.  Otherwise, the 7.10.4 binaries  
should be just fine particularly if you're learning to use BRL-CAD  
for the first time.
