:-) libusb-1.0 isn't traditional libusb. They've started calling newer versions
of it libusbx, and that's probably what we should now be doing within brltty as
well.

As you've already surmsied, libusb-1.0 can't coexist with the JAWS driver as it
doesn't offer a kernel-level USB operations filter. Yes, LibUSB-Win32 is what I
was indeed referring to.

I'm not sure how best to conduct the serial port hunt. Check if, maybe, a new
serial port shows up when you connect the device.
