One small addition which added to my confusion and hopefully is reproducible:

abc def
Now use your braille devices routing keys to copy:
1. Start with "a" and end with "f":
Pasting works fine on tty1 with brlttys paste shortcut and on x11 with
ctrl+v.
Same results, no appended spaces anywhere, just as expected.
2. Start with "a" and end 5 chars after the "f":
Then pasting on x11 with ctrl+v appends the space as mentioned but on tty1
it doesn't.
Either some part of the code strips the space on tty1 or somewhere in
xbrlapi the space gets added. At least that's my guess.
Maybe fix this inconsistency and decide on one behavior?
