As a command-line, "brltty -b bm -d serial:/dev/ttyS0" should work.
If it doesn't, please run:
"brltty -b bm -d serial:/dev/ttyS0 -n -e -l 7 2>&1 >/tmp/brltty.log"
and send us the resulting file (/tmp/brltty.log).
