Hi all, The next live skylab2000 show is in Nagasaki, Japan. Since most of you wont make it, I thought I'd just tell ya bit about Mexico last week. Kind of a one off blog kinda thing. Fun, huh?
Mexico.. Well, at first, no one was there to pick us up from the airport. Bad start. I tried a few phone numbers I had, but my spanish didn't help much here. No luck, so we just decided to have a seat at a bar, and decide what to do. We popped open a couple of Tecatas and ate some chips. After an hour we did see a girl with a sign, that said "DJ Danny Barton", so that must have meant us. :) We got in the car and there was lot of fast spanish talking into cell phones and a lot of general confusion about the hotel, customs, money, soundcheck etc etc. Mayhem, but we finally made it to the location. Not the club I was told it would be at, but now was a nice outdoor club called Yabu. Cool. Set up, did a sound check, and realized that a very important synth wasn't working properly. No big deal. I was a repair tech in a prior career, so after a while of poking and prodding, we were back in biz. Must have looked funny seeing me onstage with a pocketknife and travel screwdriver trying to fix a synth, but ya do whatever it takes. It was a great event with a ton of people, and was very fun to play for such a large enthusiastic crowd. Was mobbed afterwards for chit chat and sign-me-here and sign this. Fun, but a bit scary when there was people completely surrounding me. Fun to be famous now and again, but being truly famous 24/7 would be quite weird. Anyhow, hit the afterparty hoping for a ride back, as we were abndoned yet again, but had a great time there with large group of wonderful and friendly strangers. It was at a large house, so we got a great chance to meet so many cool Mexican people. Big thanks to the unnamed girt that trusted strange Americans and drove us back! Was a very fun trip, and I'm sure Japan will be even more of an adventure!
