Yep, sounds very familiar - I had to replace my old dishwasher, and I salvaged the emptying pump and the heating element for just that purpose. I have not yet tried to0 do anything with it, but it seems good enough - the motor is built in the pump, so that the moving parts are all contained in plastic, and the electric parts are all on the outside. Runs happily on 220V. No idea of volume or pressure capabilities... My plan (dream, speculation) is to use the heating element too, circulating the wort over the heater when ever I want to increase the temperature of the mash. (or maybe I use an old water kettle instead). I suspect the dishwasher components are fairly clean to begin with (they have seen loads of strong cleaning chemicals, and even more spooling water...), and should be close to food grade, being designed for kitchen use. Computer control and precise measurements will have to wait until I get the first proto working with just a switch - if I ever get that far. This project is reasonably low on the priority list, I need to get my beer taps first, and more boiling capacity - probably a second pot instead of one larger one... But some day... -H -- Heikki Levanto [EMAIL PROTECTED] "In Murphy We Turst"
