One way to find out: Give it a try! If you can adjust it so that the malt kernels get broken into 2-3 pieces, and you do not get too much fine powder, then all is well. Another consideration is capacity. Coffee is usually ground in small quantities, so depending on the mill, it can take quite a long time to grind a batch of malts. But even a sub-optimal mill is better than nothing! As long as you crack the kernels somehow, it will be beer anyway. Whole kernels do not mash at all well - I have tried :-) And as a home brewer, you don't have to worry too much about the efficiency - you can afford to add more malts. -H -- Heikki Levanto heikki at indexdata dot dk "In Murphy We Turst"
