I have done it a few times, and the guy from whom I learned most of my
brewing never used anything else. Sure it can be done. You have to be
careful how long you let them run, and how much you fill in the machine
at a time. Too little, and you get whole grains that give nothing much,
too much and you get powder. Aim somewhere in between, where you have
the occasional whole grain slipping through, and not too much powder.
The rest should then be fine.
