I assume that person is not living anywhere near your brewing equipment any more! Look at the positive side - now you have a wonderful chance to test your skills in brewing "low-tech", without measuring much anything. It can be done - it has been done for thousands of years. You can start by mixing your mashing water (3 parts boiling to 1 part cold water)... I have been forced to work like that once, and it was quite educational.
