Just a small addition: You can check both points by measuring plain water. At the tight temperature it should show 1.000. If the reading is totally off, you may have some other sort of scale (plato, balling, whatever), which you can easily convert. If the reading is a bit off then it may be a temperature correction thing. Try at different temperatures, and see where your calibration point is.
