I mash everything in a plastic bucket, the simplest possible way: Mix enough
warm water to hit something in the middle of the 60's, let it rest, add
(almost) boiling water to raise the temperature to 75, circulate a bit, and
let the wort run out. Keep adding hot water until I have my pot(s) full.

Actually, it is two plastic buckets, one with a gazillion holes in the
bottom. That one sits inside the other bucket, that has a tap near the
bottom. Very simple machine.

I have tried decoction, typically when there was no more room for adding hot
water. Lots of hazzle, and to my eye, no difference in the result. I have
never bothered with the fancy rests here and there. But to be honest, I must
say that my effectivity is not very high, and not very constant. 

I have brewed something like 80 batches, with very few mashing problems. Most
of the time the result has been 

   beer anyway
