I mash everything in a plastic bucket, the simplest possible way: Mix enough warm water to hit something in the middle of the 60's, let it rest, add (almost) boiling water to raise the temperature to 75, circulate a bit, and let the wort run out. Keep adding hot water until I have my pot(s) full. Actually, it is two plastic buckets, one with a gazillion holes in the bottom. That one sits inside the other bucket, that has a tap near the bottom. Very simple machine. I have tried decoction, typically when there was no more room for adding hot water. Lots of hazzle, and to my eye, no difference in the result. I have never bothered with the fancy rests here and there. But to be honest, I must say that my effectivity is not very high, and not very constant. I have brewed something like 80 batches, with very few mashing problems. Most of the time the result has been beer anyway -H -- Heikki Levanto "In Murphy We Turst" heikki (at) lsd (dot) dk _______________________________________________ Brygforum mailing list Brygforum@lists.haandbryg.dk http://lists.haandbryg.dk/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/brygforum To get off the list, send a blank mail to brygforum-unsubscr...@lists.haandbryg.dk Frameld fra listen, send en tom mail til brygforum-unsubscr...@lists.haandbryg.dk
