Absolutely. Even if one should decide to "not" test Unix fundamentals,
but test solely "BSD" only, you're going to be by definition testing
fundamental Unix knowledge.

I don't think that this kind of knowledge should take up a very sizeable
portion of the test body,  though. Only the very most important
concepts, maybe advance forms of them, should be touched on. Otherwise
it becomes another Unix trivia waste.
