Oh, I see.  The prompt for the local variable stuff is crafted in a
special way which won't let you out of the minibuffer until you typed
one of the valid characters or `C-g'.  You are right, it is not that
easy to copy the message unless you use a debugger or so for getting
hold of the content before the prompt is displayed.
