The problem I reported early today seems a mistake.  It might resulted from
some errors in setting of MiKTeX or GSviewer on my office computer.  When I
do the same thing with the latest NTemacs on my home laptop, everything is
fine.  That is, AUCTEX can work very well.

Please forget my this bug-report.  Sorry for any inconvenience.

What happens with circ.tex coming with the preview-latex
documentation?  Could you prepare a short example document, run the
preview command, then use
M-x preview-report-bug RET
and possibly add a small(!) screenshot of the problem?
