Hello Tom, thanks for the report.

In my example project, it does too, though: LTPPFCCOMPILE = $(LIBTOOL) --tag=FC $(AM_LIBTOOLFLAGS) $(LIBTOOLFLAGS) \ --mode=compile $(FC) $(DEFS) $(DEFAULT_INCLUDES) $(INCLUDES) \ $(AM_CPPFLAGS) $(CPPFLAGS) $(AM_FCFLAGS) $(FCFLAGS) I tried this with branch-1-10 and master, and while the latter has some Fortran improvements, the former doesn't have any Fortran-related changes over 1.10.1 IIRC. > Here is an excerpt from a generated Makefile.in: > LTPPFCCOMPILE = $(LIBTOOL) $(AM_LIBTOOLFLAGS) $(LIBTOOLFLAGS) \ > --mode=compile $(FC) $(DEFS) $(DEFAULT_INCLUDES) $(INCLUDES) \ > $(AM_CPPFLAGS) $(CPPFLAGS) $(AM_FCFLAGS) $(FCFLAGS) FWIW here's the example I tried (I think it is only guaranteed to be portable with Automake master, but should work fine with gfortran also with 1.10.x). Not sure yet where the difference comes from.
