Yep. I assumed from the start that this change wasn't done on a whim. I am not complaining about it. My mail was mostly about this part: "To forestall questions from users like me, consider adding information about it to this file: http://tiswww.case.edu/php/chet/bash/COMPAT" since this is clearly a compat issue, and it affects many users. -- vda
