Instead of
-e Exit immediately if a command exits with a non-zero status.
perhaps something more like this:
-e Exit immediately if a command exits with a non-zero status,
unless the command is in a special position (see info or man pages).
or something related.
Otherwise, the help description sounds definitive, and of course it's
definitely not.
