English standards aren't homogeneous or universal. In the American South, using Mr./Ms./Mrs. is quite common and expected in some cases like school to the point that you might get in trouble for **not** addressing someone with a title. Some of my older relatives will even address me as Mr. [...] or Mister [...] when sending me physical letters. Eric
