Somewhat surprisingly, I agree with LV here.  I have long been a
strong advocate of changing thread titles as threads evolve (as this
one has), but I've been mostly a lone voice in the wilderness.  Most
online people in most forums (especially, Usenet) don't do it and, in
fact, both of the following seem to be true:

    1) People pride themselves on having long thread meanderings and
    yet keeping the original title intact.  They seem to get a perverse
    pleasure out of it.

    2) Many claim that it "breaks the thread" and thus either confuses
    newbies and/or confuses naive threading software that works solely
    on the title.  And that, thus, you should not do it.

I find neither of these args compelling.

So, in conclusion, this is a good thing.  I am pleased.
