Hi Sasha,
I have checked in a patch to address most of the points that you raised:
* nm now has a --with-symbol-versions option to add the versioning
information to symbol names.
* The documentation for objdump and readelf (and nm) now mentions symbol
version strings.
I did not however decide to implement your point 3, simply because I like
to keep things simple if at all possible.
