richi would like to make GCC configure fatal by default unless users have safe
glibc or explicitly ask for =gnu (see

Should we backport this to 2.45 so we can tell users to use that? Otherwise all
users of GCC trunk on i[34567]86-*-gnu*|x86_64-*-gnu* will have to pass a
configure arg until binutils-2.46, even if they have a glibc from the branch
(as no glibc release actually has the tag yet)?
