I have been running this through the debugger, and after searching and searching for open filehandles and all sorts of stuff, I think the problem is a bug that I reported earlier on a different topic.
cf3 Could not examine file /var/opt/cfengine/cf_hosts in readfile cf3 (stat: No such file or directory) cf3 Could not examine file /var/opt/cfengine/cf_hosts in readfile cf3 (stat: No such file or directory) I believe that it is doing a readstringarray at the very begining, so when the file changes while running some agents, the readstringarray is never updated. It was indicated that it was fixed in SVN, so I pulled down b6, and the fix does not seem to be in there.
