FYI Redhat (8.0.92) have applied patches to 4.5.3 to support UTF-8 in sort. However with my minimal testing this slows down sort 585 times! I.E. it's pretty much unusable: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=82032
