This is a bug reporting address. We *want* people to report bugs. If we forced all replies back to the mailing list then the original poster would never be able to see the response. It would become a useless blackhole for them. We do not want to force people to subscribe to a mailing list just to report a problem. That would be too high of a barrier to bug reporting. I tried to reply privately but your Reply-To directed the mail back to the mailing list. I do often myself set reply-to back to the list when I think the situation warrants it. But then I would not ask for private replies. :-) Of course *I* realize this when making this private reply back to you. But I am on several lists where people make private replies and do not realize that the Reply-To is sending back to the mailing list. It has been quite embarrasing for many people.
