Thanks for reporting that. Unfortunately the traceback doesn't give much info, and I'm a bit suspicious of the backtrace, since I don't know why vfprintf would call cuserid.
Could you please try compiling coreutils 6.1 and see whether you can reproduce the problem there? If you compile with -g you should get a better backtrace.
