That was done in v6.12-213-gcfe3602, with other, related changes.
You might want to try coreutils-7.0 or a newer snapshot.
Thanks, the latest packaged snapshot I could find was 6.12.208-2441. Could
you clue me on on how to obtain later versions, like the one you mentioned?

You can find them on alpha.gnu.org.

  ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/coreutils/

looks old, and I don't see any 6.12-213-gcfe3602 up there

Alternatively you can build from version control. This requires all
of the development tools to be installed.

  git clone git://git.sv.gnu.org/coreutils

The git version history can be browsed by the web interface.

  http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=coreutils.git

Tried meyering.net/cu, but the latest version there is 208-2441

Couldn't check out coreutils at work because corporate firewall blocked everything but http access, which always hung during git-clone. Finally got a copy of the repository at home, but no mention of 6.12-213-gcfe3602 in logs or tags. Still clueless. Where might I find the 6.12-213-gcfe3602 snapshot?

Basically, my goal is to find the most bug-fixed version of the 6.12 series. Perhaps what I really want is the v6.12 tag in git (git newbie here)? But I'm curious how these various snapshots can be identified and found. Help?
