bug#12248: sleep is not arware of suspend mode

sleep (GNU coreutils) 8.13 on ubuntu 12.04 (64 bit) is not aware of 
suspend mode:

        sleep 5m
        <switch system to suspend mode for 2m>
        <wake up>
The shell will be resumed after 7m
