OK, I have included a script which reproduces the problem. On my
patched version of 1.10.8, the first test case fails. I didn't expect
this and that is not what I originally reported.
I haven't included a test for multiple top level directories in an
alias file because I am not sure that this problem is solvable. If
you want one, I can write one.
