There is new? output flag (P) in the cvs-1.11.1p1 with the commant update.
The man page is talking:
update keeps you informed of its progress by printing a line for each
file, prefaced with one of the characters `U A R M C ?' to indicate the
status of the file:
Should be: (http://cvshome.org/docs/manual/cvs_16.html#SEC152)
with one of the characters `U P A R M C ?' to indicate the status of the
file:
and explanation for P:
P file Like `U', but the CVS server sends a patch instead of an entire
file. These two things accomplish the same thing.
