Follow-up Comment #1:
I am under the impression that sanity.sh sets $HOME to a value
other than the default ~/ directory (HOME=$TESTDIR/home). So, I
am curious how this is getting in the way of sanity.sh testing.
Adding a 'printenv' to the rdiff-8 test may be desirable.
You might try running with a checkout of 1.12.13.1 to see if it
fixes your problem too.
