I am running ddrescue now since Sunday evening, but it went thru only about

I'd need a little more info then that. For one, how big is your hd? Are
all the errors in a bunch, or are they randomly scattered throughout the
disk? If you are getting half of the disk errors, and they are random, you
are unlikely to rescue anything.
The only hope is that all the errors are at the start of the disk and the
rest of it is good. If that's the case then you want to try to find the
good areas quickly, do that by using --input-position and guessing. Also
try --no-split.

PS. I cc'd the mailing list, since the author of this program would
probably be better at helping you.
