Is there an existing script that can correct the corrupted lines or

Sorry but I don't know of any script able to repair random corruption
in the logfile.
I hacked up something that seemed to clean up the log file enough to get
ddrescue going again. Basically it took the position from the corrupted
line, recalculated the offset, and then set is as untried (\). In the
end I figured I didn't need what was on the drive enough to continue
with what looked to be a long process with an uncertain outcome.
I would also be interested in any suggestions about what went wrong.
Is a
cifs share the wrong place to be storing a ddrescue log file?
I don't exactly know what is a "cifs share", but given the (lack of)
reliability of Microsoft filesystems and that many Google results for
"cifs share" are about "problems with a cifs share", it doesn't seem
reliable enough for a logfile.
In my case it's a samba exported file system. I would have expected it
to be fine and in my case it was either that or NFS, which I didn't have
already set-up. Oh well... maybe next time.
Thanks for the response, and the great software!!
