Thank you for that "whoa" I was getting a little snowed under with bitbabble...and just the phrase "development tools" scared the willies outta me. Sadly I am the victim of a triple whammy - my neighbours/friends etc know very little about even their own PC's - no-one I know in the hinterlands of Northern England uses Linux and anyway I get the familiar response of "Aw Jeez, It's a mac- don't no NOTHIN' 'bout no macs..sorry mate." I hadn't realised that this would be so difficult... I have managed to "file salvage" a number of pieces of Data along with all the millions of unidentified icons, templates, help files and license/registration forms and vast quantities of voices, alerts and other assorted sounds... and, as time goes by, I shall wade through and pick the wheat from the chaff, as it were. I was just hoping that this "testdisk" thingy was the treat t'beat the band, y'know? so... I shall persevere unless someone can make it simple enough for me to follow even though I'm ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that, once I find out how to terminal/command the beast, I'll be astounded at how easy it was - after all I can "fsck" command like a pro after only a few times... But maybe it's just like my guitar playing. Years ago I managed to learn to play "Anji" and, as time went by, I have become dazzling at it... but I can't even begin to play anything else... sad really.
