A bad cable can cause problems too. I suspect not in this case, but I'm assuming you've tried each permutation! You should make sure you've tried connecting the bad drive with both cables you have (the one from this drive AND also the cable from the working drive too!)... and tried both cables on both ports. As I say, I suspect it won't help in this case sadly, but well worth a quick try.
