Thank you very much for your help. I followed the instructions and could create the image of the correct size. Unfortunately it seems the recovery was not successful and I could not list any directory or files in those 30GB recovered. I have replaced the MBR with the backup with testdrive and fix the FAT partition table with that software too but there is nothing inside the partition. The hard drive from which I picked up the data is now useless as it is no longer recognized, too many I/O errors. When trying to access it, it is recognized as a 2.2 TB disk.
