Good evening.
Whose idea was it to compress ddrescue with an .lz compression? Just
FYI, I am a long term Linux user, through RedHat, Ubuntu and now Linux
Mint (and many years of AIX, HP-UX and Solaris before that). The only
thing I could see that would unzip this file is file-roller. For some
reason this will not install from the Mint software manager. So I tried
downloading the package and installing it manually. I got this
complicated message that I needed to install some schema's just to get
the file-roller to install just so that I could get the .lz file
unzipped to install the package. If I am having this much trouble, this
could be a major problem for people trying to get this downloaded and
installed on anything. Archive manager in Mint doesn't know what to do
with the file. Any suggestions would be more than appreciated. Thanks.
