I have not worked on the conditional patch since pre7 or pre8 as I have not had the time, but I had good success with it leaving everything out when compiled on an apple. So I think I am good with being able to do the conditional compilation. But it would be up to you to include the option and define the macro in your configure file. If you could do that, then it would just be a matter of knowing the name of the macro.

When I can get back to working on it and get a public patch ready, I will send it to you first to see what you think. I know that there will be some things that I am not doing proper that you would want changed before you would consider including it.

But first I still have something left to work on / fix in my own software...
